What is Worship ?
Worship means :
to honor or reverence as a divine being or supernatural power.
to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.
The hour is coming and now is when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
-John 4:23-24
I.Why do we need to Worship God ?
1. Because we love God
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. - Mark 12:30
2.We acknowledge that HE is our GOD and we are HIS creation.
"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up". - James 4: 6-10
II. In Spirit
God is a spirit so we need to worship HIM spirit to spirit.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:10
"Let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire. "
Hebrews 12:28-29
But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.-
1 Corinthians 6:17
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
1 Corinthians 6:9
you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:20
II. In Truth
Worshipping God in truth means that it must be done according as God has specified in the Bible.
Not in an evil ways by man.
It is forbidden to worship God that is not according to the Bible.
For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you. –
Acts 17 :23
"O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.“
